The northern Kentucky 40k Time Trial Series returns for 2011, but in a new location!  The event will be held monthly from March through June.

As with the Cleves Time Trial Series, there is no fee, but you must be a 2011 member of Queen City Wheels to participate.  Memberships are available at Memberships will NOT be sold at the event

All riders must complete and sign a QCW 2012 Time Trial Series release form. The release form must be filled out and signed only ONCE to participate in either series.

The purpose of a 40k Time Trial Series is to give our members an opportunity for training at this distance.  The District and National Time Trial Championships are at this distance as well as the bike leg of an Olympic/International Triathlon.  This event is also great experience for road racers who want to improve their skills at breakaways or bridging the gap back to the peloton after being dropped (should that ever happen!).

This is a simple out and back course along Route 8 which starts and ends in Melbourne, KY with a turnaround just east of Mentor, KY.  There are no traffic signals or stop signs and no possibility of straying off course.  Although traffic is very light, speed limits vary from 35-55 mph.  This is a mostly flat to gently rolling course with a maximum gradient of 3%.  Road surface is mostly smooth but includes some rough spots created by this winters freeze/thaw cycle.
