With much anticipated excitement, QCW is pleased to announce the Kings CXTT is back for 2012.  Enclosed are the details for the Kings CXTT sponsored by QCW. We are looking forward to another great year of cyclocross racing.  These pre-season training sessions have played a big part in the success of our CX racers here in Cincinnati. We have decided to keep the training rides to six weeks this year to capture as much daylight as possible. We will be racing on Wednesday nights at the old Kingswood Golf Course in the Deerfield Township.  The individual team set up that was started last year really brought out some creative courses and it is the heart of the CXTT this year. Each week a different local race team will create a unique course for the series.

8/8 Biowheels Race Team

8/15 7 Hills Racing

8/22 Team Hungry

8/29 Team Dayton

9/5 QCW/Lionhearts

9/12 Rogue Racing 513

Like last year, the registration will be through QCW membership. QCW memberships through enrollment. The cost for a one year membership is as follows: $30 family, $20 individual, and $10 Junior (10-22). So, for an individual who races the six events would pay $3.33 per race. Each rider must bring a completed QCW TT Series release form. Copies of the TT Series Release Form will be at the event as well.  Please have them completed prior to attending the training ride.  Completed forms can be faxed in advance to (310) 974 5716, scanned and sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or brought to the event.

Best Course Award

New this year - the team voted with the best course design, "spirit", and creativity will earn the CXTT Best Course Creators Title, bragging rights for one year, and earn prizes of unspeakable value at the end of the series (think beverages and snacks). Team winner will be announced via Facebook.

The course will be approximately 2.5 to 3.5 miles long.  In cyclocross terms this is roughly equivalent to 2 laps of a standard cyclocross course at most of the OVCX events.  It will consist primarily of grass track, with a few paved/gravel stretches to link up all the sections.  The majority of these grass sections were previously fairways from the former Kingswood Golf Course.

The course will be marked with small cones and maybe caution tape.  Due to the length of the 2.5 to 3.5 mile course we cannot tape the entire course, so we expect everyone to be an upstanding citizen when riding the course.  If you are on pavement, you probably aren’t quite in the right place.  We strongly encourage all riders to pre-ride the course every week, since it will be different each week.

There will be six categories in the CXTT series.
The categories are simple:
Advanced Men and Women – 3 laps or ~ 10.5 miles
Intermediate Men and Women – 2 laps or ~ 7 miles
Beginner Men and Women – 1 lap or ~ 3.5 miles

Kings CXTT does have some prizes of unspeakable value for the six weekly winners, which will be given the following week.  Trophies will be awarded to the top finisher in each category, minimum four rides to qualify.  If you know a sponsor that wants to ante up some schwag that would be super-duper.

Ride whatever you want, but leave the aero gear in the garage.  If you want to ride your time trial bike on grass, go for it.  If you want to ride your mountain bike with knobbies, go for it.  All we ask is that your bike is maintained and ready to ride fast.  Helmet is a must.

Start Procedure
Riders will be starting at 6:30pm from the clubhouse at Kingswood.  The start will be a standard time trial start with riders starting every 20 seconds.  Like last year, riders will be given a number that they must remember and tell the timer keepers every lap for timing.  We ride
rainCry or shineCool.

Due to the nature of the multi-lap approach, you will pass other riders.  Please be courteous and alert each other that you are passing.  There is plenty of room for everyone to get around each other, and remember that no pro scouts that we know of will be attending these events and looking for talent.  Riders will start every 20 seconds from the clubhouse.

Rider times will be calculated on site and announced after completion of the event.  Results will also be posted on here and through Google Docs.  We should have results posted within 24 hours of each event

Series Points
Points will be awarded each week based on the final times and standings.  The points will be awarded on a declining scale starting from 100, with the fastest time getting all 100 points.  Each rider slower than the fastest time will get points on a percentage basis by comparing times.  If the fastest time is 40 minutes and second place is 41 minutes the winner will get 100 points and second place will get 97.5 points.  The rider with the most points in each class will be recognized with a plaque at the annual QCW banquet. You must complete four out of the six TTs to qualify, and only your top five point totals will count toward the overall.

Location/Site Information
Kingswood Park is located at 4188 Irwin Simpson Road in Mason, OH.  The easiest way to get there is to take the Fields Ertl exit off I-71 and head north on Mason-Montgomery Road.  Irwin Simpson Road is the stoplight immediately before the P&G Business Center, head east on Irwin Simpson and follow until right before I-71.  Kingswood will be on your left and directly across the street from Anthem.  Please park in the lot only and not on the course, there is plenty of parking.
