The PUR Tour is ON for 2009.  It's on for Saturday, August 1st.  We've added a few new things for this year including giving some guy by the name of BigDave the job Race Organizer for this event.

The PUR Tour has built a reputation as being a great race to use as your first race.  To continue this reputation, we are adding a race for those who are, how shall we say, enjoy a good meal or two.  A race for those who are slightly above average on the scale.  That's right, the big boys will have their day in the sun.  We have added aa Clydesdale race to this year's schedule.  This race will be limited to those who are AT LEAST 200 lbs off the bike and no higher than a Cat 5.  We want to make this fair for those who wouldn't normally enter into a bicycle race so those 205 lb Cat 3s won't be able to enter in this shindig.

We are still keeping all of the juniors' races that have filled the schedule in past years.  One thing that we have changed with the juniors is adding a Juniors Wheel Restriction.  We want to make sure the kids understand that racing is primarily about ability and not about the best equipment money can buy.  It is simple, no carbon wheels, no deep dish wheels, and a maximum rim depth of 30mm.  These restrictions will only be enforced in the Juniors races.  If a junior rider enters an open category race such as a Cat 5, 4, 3, etc., the wheel restriction will not apply but the normal gear restriction will.

Now, what about the ladies?  We haven't forgot about the lovely ladies, especially the ones who may feel that they have been forgotten.  This year we have added a Women Master 40+.

Whether or not you plan to race in one of the many races scheduled for this, it would still be worth the trip to come out, watch and support all of our local and regional racers.

Registration is now open at BikeReg.com .
